Study of Adhesive Wear Test on TiSi, AlTi, and WTi Coatings

Coatings based on Ti, Si, W, and Al synthesized by different techniques have been investigated in order to better understand their properties; however, there are few results related wear behavior. In this paper, TiSi, AlTi, WTi coatings were applied means of a sputtering system 316L stainless steel substrates evaluate behavior through ball-on-disc test. Adhesive tests carried out using the technique, which allowed coefficient friction be measured. The morphological characterization was an analysis SEM images optical profilometry traces coatings, used calculate rate. An products information provided SEM-EDS, Raman spectroscopy, XPS techniques, about tribo-chemical subjected showed that TiSi AlTi exhibited premature failure, corroborated curves. It also observed coating against test, with lower than stainless-steel substrate, without showing evidence can explained as consequence WxOy produced coating.
